Purpose: The Career Studies Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Systems is a combination of engineering and fire science courses that provide individuals with the principles of fire sprinkler system design, construction, installation, inspection and testing in order to prevent or minimize potential losses from fire, water, smoke and/or explosions. Successful completion of this program will result in the award of a Career Studies Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Systems, as well as student preparation for the National Society of Protection Engineers - National Institute for Certification In Engineering Technologies Water-Based Systems Layout Level I and II certification examinations. While designed to prepare graduates for industry certification and immediate entry into or continued advancement within the workforce, students may continue their studies in the Fire Protection Systems degree (A.A.S.).
