Purpose: This degree is designed to prepare students to transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in computer science. The curriculum emphasizes the study of science, mathematics, and the use of computing in a scientific setting. This degree provides the basic skill set required for further specialization at the university level. Depending on the university, students will have the opportunity to select a field of study including software engineering, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, or basic research.
Course Offerings: Courses in this program are offered at the Hampton and Historic Triangle Campuses in the daytime, evenings, and online.
Special Notes: Students will not be able to enroll in computer science classes without a “C” or better in MTH 161 /MTH 162 .
