Virtual Machining and Design (221-883-15) Career Studies Certificate


The Virtual Machining and Design CSC will prepare students to analyze, interpret, and create machine blueprints. They will be able to set-up and operate conventional shop machinery such as manual lathes and milling machines. Students will be able to develop 3D computer models and create orthographic drawings using the latest computer design software. Students will make prototypes of their designs using 3D printers, use advanced CAD/CAM software to automatically generate CSC programs, analyze and troubleshoot CNC programs when necessary, and set-up and operate CNC machines to produce final products.

Upon satisfactory completion of the certificate program, students will benefit from the courses if they elect to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Drafting and Design. They will also earn the following certifications: NIMS Measurement, Materials and Safety in MAC 161, OSHA 10 Certification in SAF 130, AutoDesk Certification in CAD 140, NIMS Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout in MAC 162.
