NUR 142 - Fundamentals of Surgical Care (3 credits) Introduces principles of wound healing including types, stages, and complications; types, preparation and care of surgical supplies, packing, dressings, catheters, drains, tubes, supplies, and equipment; classifications of instruments, sutures and needles. Describes responsibilities related to the scrub and circulating roles. Provides students practical experience in the operating room.
Prerequisite(s): Practical Nurse Licensure in Virginia Corequisite(s): NUR 280 , NUR 281
Lecture: 2 hours Lab: 3 hours Total: 5 hours per week
